Shipping and exchange

A digital service: nothing is shipped, no delivery charge exists, and credits land in your account within seconds of a confirmed payment. Here is exactly how that works, what to do in the rare case it does not, and what an “exchange” means when the product is a single fungible unit.

01

Nothing is shipped

worldgovdata sells API credits, a digital service. Nothing is shipped. Credits are added to your account immediately once a payment is confirmed.

There is no physical product, no packaging, no courier and no tracking number. We do not ask for a delivery address, we do not have a warehouse, and no part of this service can arrive late because of weather, customs or a driver.

This page exists because payment providers require a delivery statement from every merchant, including purely digital ones. Rather than write a disclaimer, we have written down what delivery actually means here — which turns out to be the more useful document.

02

What is delivered

One thing: credits, added to the balance on your worldgovdata account. Credits are the prepaid unit the API meters in — one credit covers roughly 100 observation rows.

You can see them in three places, all of which update at the same moment:

  • Your balance on the account overview and in billing.
  • A purchase entry in the credit ledger on your usage page, with the amount, the receipt number and a timestamp.
  • The X-Credits-Remaining header on your very next API response, and the balance returned by GET /v1/ping.

There is nothing to download, install or activate. An existing API key starts spending the new balance immediately; you do not need to create a new one.

03

When it arrives

Immediately on successful payment — typically within a few seconds. Delivery is automatic and needs no action from you or from us.

Delivery timing for a credit purchase, and what is happening at each stage.
StageTypicalWhat is happening
You complete paymentHandled entirely by the payment provider. We never see your card details.
Payment confirmed to us1–10 secondsTwo independent confirmation paths run in parallel — a signed callback from your browser and a signed webhook from the provider. Whichever arrives first wins.
Credits addedImmediateOne ledger entry, written once. A unique key on the payment identifier makes double-crediting impossible, so both confirmation paths landing is harmless.
Slow path, if the callback failsUp to a few minutesIf your browser closed or the network dropped mid-redirect, the webhook still delivers. You do not need to do anything.

Bank-side methods that confirm asynchronously — some netbanking flows, some wallets — can take a little longer to confirm. The credits appear the moment the confirmation reaches us, not before: we do not deliver against an unconfirmed payment, and equally we never take money without delivering.

04

If credits have not arrived within 30 minutes

This is rare, and it is almost always a confirmation that has not landed rather than money that has gone missing. In order:

  • Reload your billing page. Account → billing shows the order and its status. A status of paid with the credits already in your balance means it worked and something was cached.
  • Do not pay again. A second payment creates a second order and a duplicate charge. Duplicates are refunded in full (refund policy, clause 04), but waiting is faster than being refunded.
  • Email us. connect@worldgovdata.com, subject Credits not delivered. Include the receipt number if you have one, or the payment reference from your bank or card statement, and the approximate time of payment.
05

There is no delivery charge

No shipping fee, no handling fee, no processing surcharge, no minimum order. The price on the pricing page is the price, plus any tax we are required to charge, and nothing else is added at checkout.

We do not need a delivery address. If you want an invoice with a company name, address or tax registration number on it, you can add those billing details in billing or ask us to reissue the invoice — but they are for the paperwork, not for delivery.

06

Where we deliver

Everywhere. The service is delivered over the internet to your account, so the only geography that matters is whether your payment method works and whether the law permits the transaction.

  • We cannot supply anyone subject to applicable sanctions or export restrictions, and we will refund rather than deliver if that turns out to apply.
  • Prices are shown in the currency named on the pricing page. Your bank may apply its own conversion or cross-border fee; that is between you and your bank and we never see it.
  • The service itself runs on infrastructure in Germany, which is also where your account data lives — see the privacy policy.
07

Exchanges

There is nothing to exchange in the physical sense — one credit is identical to every other credit, and there are no variants, sizes or versions to swap. What people usually mean by “exchange” maps onto one of these:

What each kind of exchange request means in practice, and where it is handled.
What you wantHow it works
You bought the wrong pack sizeEmail us. We refund the unused credits and you buy the pack you meant, or we simply adjust the balance and the difference — whichever is less work for you.
You changed your mindUnused credits are refunded in full within 14 days, no reason required. See the refund policy.
Wrong currency was chargedWe refund and you re-purchase in the right one. No fee either way.
The data was not what you expectedAsk for a refund of what you have not spent. Also tell us what you were looking for — every free metadata endpoint exists so that you can check before you buy, and if you could not, that is a documentation failure on our side.

In every case the mechanism is the refund policy, because with a single fungible unit a refund and an exchange are the same operation.

08

Try it before you buy anything

You should not have to take delivery on trust. Before any purchase:

  • The entire portal — every country page, ranking, chart and export — is free and needs no account.
  • Metadata endpoints (the catalogue, indicators, topics, freshness and coverage) are free on the API forever, with or without a balance.
  • Verifying your email grants 2,000 credits, once, at no cost — roughly 200,000 observation rows. That is enough to build and test a real integration before you spend anything.

Then check what you got

After a purchase, GET /v1/ping returns your key id, its scopes and your balance — the quickest confirmation that delivery worked. The quickstart walks the whole path from signup to first metered call.

Delivery problems are treated as urgent, not as billing admin. Email connect@worldgovdata.com and you will hear from a person within one business day.
